Harry Styles is the favourite to sing next James Bond theme song
The singer has odds of 2/1 to perform the next 007 title track
Harry Styles has emerged as the favourite to sing the theme tune for the next James Bond film.
The former One Direction singer has become a huge star in his own right since launching his solo career in 2017, and bookies reckon he could be the voice of the next 007 title theme.
William Hill has said the As It Was singer currently has odds of 2/1, meaning he could be following in the footsteps of stars like Adele and Billie Eilish, who have previously performed songs for films about the suave spy.
He has a little competition, with Ellie Goulding at 4/1, Lewis Capaldi at 5/1 and Ed Sheeran at 7/1.
Current odds:
Harry Styles – 2/1
Ellie Goulding – 4/1
Lewis Capaldi – 5/1
Ed Sheeran – 7/1
What has Harry Styles said about James Bond?
Styles is known to be a Bond fan, and a few years back did say he wouldn’t turn down the chance to play the agent.
“I mean, who wouldn’t (want to be Bond)?” he said on Hits Radio in 2019.
“I grew up watching those. You know, I loved him when I was a kid. So I think it’s kind of everyone’s dream a little bit, right?”
William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “With elements of next James Bond film being discussed in more concise detail, it seems increasingly likely that Harry Styles could be the voice we hear in the opening titles of 007’s next excursion.
“He’s the 2/1 favourite to lead the next Bond theme song, ahead of Ed Sheeran (7/1), whose music has already appeared in the likes of The Hobbit, and the ever-popular Lewis Capaldi (5/1).”
Who else has performed 007 songs?
Several legendary singers have lent their vocals to Bond themes over the years, including Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Lulu, Madonna and Tina Turner.
Adele wowed when she sang the theme for 2012’s Skyfall, one of the best known 007 tracks in recent years.
She was followed by Sam Smith, who sang Writing's On The Wall for Spectre in 2015.
Eilish performed the song for the latest film, 2021’s No Time To Die.
It was a big hit, reaching number one in the UK.
Who is favourite to be the next Bond?
So far it isn’t known who will take over from Daniel Craig, who hung up his tux in 2021 after No Time To Die, his fifth and final outing as James Bond.
However, William Hill has Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the current favourite at 7/4.
Damson Idris is 2/1, Henry Cavill is 5/2 and James Norton is 7/2.
Phelps said: “In the actor market, Aaron-Taylor Johnson has made some big moves and now finds himself as the favourite to assume the vacancy left by Daniel Craig, trading at 7/4 to be awarded the coveted role.”
