A licensing bid to open a new restaurant on Hartlepool Marina has been given the go-ahead after objections from residents were dropped.

An application submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council for 19 Navigation Point stated the site will have "roughly around 100 seats for dining with a bar to serve soft and alcoholic drinks". The licensing proposal sought to allow the new restaurant to play recorded music and sell alcohol between noon and midnight each day, in line with their opening hours.

It also secures them permission to serve "late night refreshment", which is needed to sell hot food and drink after 11pm, until midnight. The application was due to go before the council's licensing sub-committee (on Monday, June 24) following concerns from two residents living nearby over potential noise nuisance.

However council officers confirmed those objections have been withdrawn, meaning the hearing did not need to go ahead and the licence has been granted. Submitted by Mohamed Ikram Ahmed, plans state numerous measures will be in place to ensure they comply with licensing rules.
