Hatton Garden Gang Member's Court Notes Revealed

Hatton Garden Gang Member's Court Notes Revealed

One of the Hatton Garden heist gang knew nothing about the mystery raider Basil until the start of the trial months later.

Plumber Hugh Doyle, convicted of laundering the proceeds, took notes during the prosecutor's opening speech.

At the first reference to Basil, the one who got away, Doyle noted: "W.T.F.I.B.?"

Or "Who The F*** Is Basil?"

He was so shocked to hear there was an untraced suspect that he wrote the letters down twice.

Basil had a key and let the others into the building where they drilled through the wall and stole jewellery worth £14m, gold and cash, most of it still missing.

Two of the ringleaders - Danny Jones and Terence Perkins - have claimed since that Basil was the real mastermind.

Police say they know nothing about Basil and have offered a reward of £20,000 for information that leads to his arrest and conviction.

Doyle's hand-written trial notes - possibly instructions to his lawyers - also reveal how he challenged certain things the prosecutor told the jury.

When the prosecutor said two gang members drove to "collect the loot from Doyle's workshop", he wrote: "They must change this, it is wrong."

He dismissed another prosecution assertion as "hearsay!".

After a reported bugged exchange between two gang members he wrote: "They do not know what they are talking about!"

The seven men convicted for their part in the £14m heist will learn their fate on Wednesday morning.
