Have Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson split up?

They were the celebrity couple that avoided the limelight, but rumours are building that Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have indeed called it quits.

According to a story in The Sun, the Coldplay frontman told friends that the two called time on their relationship in May. It is gues-stimated that the pair were a couple for 20 months.

Both Johnson and Martin try to avoid social media. In fact, the Fifty Shades actress deleted almost everything from her Instagram account in 2016 (all that’s left now is her phone number, but that’s a different story). Her co-star at the time Jamie Dornan did the same, claiming he was trying to protect his family from internet trolls.

Johnson was seen hanging out with Martin’s ex Gwyneth Paltrow only back in April. A fact that was confirmed when YouTube’s Derek Blasberg posted a picture of the two of them together on his Instagram. They at least seemed to be getting on.

But then Johnson has been on holiday with the Avengers: Endgame actress. She was invited on Paltrow’s family honeymoon after she wed TV producer Brad Falchuk.

The alleged split comes as a shock, as there were rumours earlier in the year that Martin and Johnson were so serious that a wedding might be on the cards.

In March, Martin even named Johnson as a person that needed protecting, when he filed a restraining order against a woman stalking him and his family. That order was extended mid-April after a hearing in California.

Martin bought a beach house in Malibu for the couple to live in just this Spring. The papers speculated back in October that Johnson might be pregnant, when the couple seemed to be planning a gender reveal party. But it turned out all they were celebrating was Dakota’s 29th birthday.
