'Haven't got anybody like him' - Newcastle United urged to move for Premier League captain

Newcastle United have been urged to consider a summer move for Sheffield United teenager Ollie Arblaster. The 20-year-old has impressed for The Blades who have already been relegated to The Championship.

Arblaster, who captained Sheffield United in the 5-1 defeat to Newcastle, reportedly has several Premier League teams eyeing up a move. Aston Villa and West Ham are said to be two teams who are interested, and now Eddie Howe and transfer team have been told to take a 'closer look' at the midfielder.

Speaking on this week's Monday Show of The Everything is Black and White Podcast, special guest Matthew Raisbeck of the BBC, spoke glowingly about Arblaster. "He's been captaining them - I think it was only his eight Premier Leaue start but I'd like to take another look at him because he was very, very impressive.

"They are going down and they'll probably want him as an academy graduate to help lead them up next season but I'd like to take a closer at him because Newcastle haven't got anybody quite like him. He was so impressive."

Arblaster spent the first half of the season on loan at League-One Port Vale scoring twice in 26-apperances before being recalled and returning to Bramall Lane. The youngster had to work back to fitness after a nasty knee injury but one fit, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has not been afraid to use him.

His first taste of first-team football at Sheffield United came against Arsenal in March and since then hasn't played less than 80 minutes in the eight game that have followed. He signed a new deal in February until 2028 but there is a belief that Sheffield United will face a challenge to hold onto despite their wish to have him part of their team for next season's Championship campaign.

One thing that may go in Sheffield United's favour though, is that Arblaster is Sheffield born and has come through the club's youth ranks - a chance to play a key role in helping Sheffield United back to the Premier League may be appealing.

The Magpies also have plenty of options in the centre of midfield with Bruno Guimaraes the key man, and with youngsters of their own such as Elliot Anderson, Joe White and Lewis Miley vying for a first team place in the middle of the park alongside Joe Willock, Joelinton, Sean Longstaff and Sandro Tonali, another body would crowd things further.
