Like his older sister, Jansen was a TV and film actor who appeared on Even Stevens, The Walking Dead and Racing Stripes.

In a statement to PEOPLE shortly after he was found dead in New York, Hayden and Jansen’s mother Lesley Vogel and father Alan Lee "Skip" Panettiere confirmed that his death was related to cardiomegaly coupled with aortic valve complications.

They also offered a sweet tribute to their late son and brother.

“Jansen's heart could be seen in his eyes, and his charm in his brilliant, engaging smile; his soul in his masterful and revealing paintings, and the joy of life in his dry wit," the family said. "His charisma, warmth, compassion for others, and his creative spirit will live forever in our hearts and in the hearts of all whom he encountered."
