New headteacher celebrates end of successful first year in post

A HEADTEACHER at a Poole school has celebrated the end of a successful first year in post.

Ali Sinclar joined Oakdale Junior School in January 2024, bringing a wealth of experience and passion for teaching.

Reflecting on her first year, Ali said: “When I first came into the school, I felt the family feel and the commitment of the staff and the children all working together.

"Since I joined, it’s been great to experience such a strong team ethic. Our focus is to work to help every child to achieve their best, putting them at the heart of what we do.

“Looking ahead, my vision is to continue to build partnerships with parents, develop stronger links with local primary schools and forge even stronger ties with the community.”

It has been a busy few months for the school, with academic assessments, school trips and performances.

Ali added: “I’m really proud of the effort of the staff and the children. In recent months we’ve had a very successful SATs week and 41% of our Year 4s achieving full marks in their times table assessment."
