Heather and Tarek El Moussa Celebrate Their 5-Year ‘Meetaversary’: ‘We’ve Grown Together’

"We’ve navigated the toughest times and cherished the best ones," the HGTV stars wrote in a joint Instagram post

Heather and Tarek El Moussa are looking back at the milestones they’ve shared since meeting on the Fourth of July five years ago.

The couple marked their “meetaversary” with a joint Instagram post featuring a carousel of photos and a special message.

“Five years ago, our journey began,” they wrote. “From engagement to marriage, welcoming our baby, and all the adventures in between. With every year, we’ve grown together, learned together, and discovered new things about each other. We’ve navigated the toughest times and cherished the best ones.”

Heather, 36, and Tarek, 42, concluded the post, “Marriage & relationships take nurturing, navigating & really good communication! Here’s to our meetaversary and many more years of love and chaos.”

The Flipping El Moussas stars first met in Newport Beach, Calif. In July 2019, when Heather hopped on Tarek’s boat to see a friend, and he asked her out for drinks.

The pair got engaged in July 2020 and tied the knot in October 2021.

"We're best friends, we're true soulmates, and our love is so rare and so special," the Selling Sunset alum told PEOPLE at the time of their nuptials. "It's the love I've always dreamed of my whole life."

In January 2023, they welcomed their first child together, son Tristan. Tarek also shares two kids with his ex-wife, Christina Hall: daughter Taylor, 13, and son Brayden, 8.

HGTV announced in May that Heather and Tarek would compete against Christina, 40, and her current husband, Josh Hall, 43, in a new series called The Flip Off, set to premiere in 2025. The show marks Tarek and Christina's first time working together since their long-running series Flip or Flop ended after nine years in March 2022.

In June during a Q&A on her Instagram Stories, Heather revealed whether she'd consider adding another addition to their family.

"I get asked this a lot, I think it’s just a natural question. We already have one amazing, adorable baby and I’m obsessed with him," Heather answered.

"I mean, we have a full plate though. We do have three kids. And Tristan’s an easy baby, you guys. I love everything about it. I love everything about being a mom," she added, referring to Taylor and Brayden.

"So it does make me want more kids, but then a lot of people have said you have one angel baby and the second one ends up being like a terror," Heather continued. "So that would probably happen to me but you know what? Whatever. So I don’t know, we’ll see. You never know what’s going to happen."
