Heathrow airport security guards begin 10-day strike over pay

Strikes by security guards at Heathrow airport begin on Friday 31 March after last-ditch talks failed to resolve a pay dispute. The action is likely to disrupt school holiday travel, with around 1,400 members of Unite walking out for 10 days, including most of the Easter weekend.According to the union, talks broke down because Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) failed to substantially improve its pay offer. The strike involves security officers at terminal five, used exclusively by British Airways, and campus security guards who are responsible for checking all cargo that enters the airport.
