Heathrow named among world's top 10 airports

Heathrow Airport has made a top ten list of the world's best airports.

London’s biggest airport came in eighth place, beating Zurich and Frankfurt to make the Skytrax world's best airports list.

Singapore’s Changi airport retained the top spot for the sixth year in a row.

London Heathrow moved up a place in the rankings from ninth last year.

Heathrow clinched the top spot for 'Best Airport Shopping' while the Queen's Terminal (Terminal 2) won the award for 'Best Airport Terminal.'

The airport's Chief Commercial Officer Ross Baker said: “To have two of our terminals be voted amongst the world’s top five is testament to the hard work our team has done to transform Heathrow for the better.

“We are tremendously pleased our passengers are not only voting for us through these awards – but also with their feet – as we saw with this year’s record breaking numbers.

“Going forward, we will continue to invest in Heathrow to give passengers an enjoyable, reliable and affordable journey every time they travel through the airport.”

London City also got a mention in the list making 28th place while Birmingham came in 86th place.

Singapore's Changi airport has retained the top for the sixth year in a row. The airport has a range of attractions inside including a rooftop pool, a butterfly garden and a cactus garden. Those with long layovers are also able to take a tour of the city free of charge.

According to Skytrax, the 2018 World Airport Awards surveyed 13.7 million travellers from over 100 different nationalities. It covers 550 airports worldwide and evaluates traveller experiences from check=in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration.
