Heavy Rain Causes Deadly Flooding and Landslides in Brazil's Sao Paulo State

At least 26 people were confirmed to have died after heavy rain lashed coastal areas of Brazil’s Sao Paulo state, the regional government said on Sunday, February 19, causing flooding and landslides.

The government of Sao Paulo said 25 of the deaths were in Sao Sebastiao. Over 550 people were left displaced or homeless, the state government said.

This video showing flooding was filmed by Twitter user @isisantx, who said it was filmed at Boraceia beach in Sao Sebastiao.

The National Civil Defense said 600 mm of rain fell in 24 hours in some areas.
