Heavy Snow Blankets Williamsville as Storm Sweeps Western New York

Thick snow blanketed the town of Williamsville, New York, as the National Weather Service (NWS) issued multiple warnings for lake-effect snow in Buffalo and surrounding areas.

Heavy lake-effect snow was falling at a rate of two to three inches per hour off Lake Erie on Thursday night, the NWS said, making for “extremely difficult travel” for the Buffalo metro area east to Batavia, and Oswego County off Lake Ontario.

Gov Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for parts of New York, describing the storm as “dangerous” and “life-threatening”.
