Helen Skelton wants us to completely retire the idea of "mum guilt". The mother-of-three said she doesn't think mums should ever feel guilty about how they choose to parent their kids.

Skelton told OK! Magazine that she has "so much to celebrate" in her life, both professionally and personally. When asked about the idea of "mum guilt", she explained that she has a huge problem with the term in general.

"I think that’s a term we should just never say out loud again," said the 40-year-old. "You could use that term about everything in your life. Are we not doing enough exercise — do we feel guilty? Are we not eating enough vegetables — do we feel guilty?

"It’s a phrase that should be parked. You’ve got to really invest in the right energy and guilt is just a waste."

Skelton has three children with her rugby league player ex-husband Richie Myler — two sons and a daughter, aged between two and eight years old. She said that bringing them up is "constant entertainment" for her.

"My kids are great company and have got such big personalities that you never know what you’re going to get," said Skelton.

"Some mornings they’ll come downstairs dressed as a dinosaur or maybe carrying a snowboard. It’s just constant entertainment and you’ve got to be on your toes at all times. I’ve been very blessed in that sense."

Skelton is increasingly busy when it comes to her TV presenting, with the new series of Springtime on the Farm airing now on Channel 5. She also has a regular role as one of the rotating cast of hosts of the BBC show Morning Live.

She's also still in touch with some of her Strictly Come Dancing co-stars and friends after finishing as a runner-up on the 2022 series with partner Gorka Marquez.

Skelton said: "It was a unique, shared experience, and as you can imagine there are many WhatsApp groups where lots of us keep in touch. Most recently, I’ve spoken to Fleur East, Kaye Adams, Ellie Taylor and Tony Adams."
