Organisers of Dorchester’s historic military vehicle road run have revealed the times when the convoy will arrive in town.

The Armour & Embarkation event is an immersive Second World War experience where a convoy of around 100 wartime vehicles, including tanks, motorcycles, jeeps, and trucks head out from the Tank Museum in Bovington to Brewery Square in Dorchester.

As previously announced, the event will take place on Saturday, June 22 recreating the build up to the D-Day landings.

Now organisers have announced that the vehicles will arrive in Dorchester at 3.30pm. The convoy will then park up along Weymouth Avenue next to Brewery Square.

Once there, the public will be able to step back into wartime history with drivers greeting visitors and answering questions about the vehicles.

Members of the public are invited to get fully immersed in the day by dressing up in period clothes of the 1940s.

Due to the high cost of running the event, organisers also confirmed that this will likely be the final year of the road run, held especially to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

The wartime vehicles follow the routes the tanks and men used on their way to Weymouth and Portland harbours which were used as embarkation ports for the invasion of Normandy.
