Throughout December, CBC Newfoundland and Labrador is partnering with the province's food banks to raise awareness of the growing demand and to collect donations.

Food banks are seeing increased demand across the province and country. A recent report by Food Banks Canada found food bank visits in March had risen 12 per cent over March 2022 and 44 per cent increase over March 2019.

The report also stated that more than one-third of the people who use food banks are children — 5,305 in total.

On Friday, CBC N.L. has arranged events throughout the day for the public to attend and listen to.
