Here's how much a chef's signed Beatles ticket sold for at south Essex auction

A FULLY signed ticket for royal world premiere of The Beatles' third studio album has fetched thousands of pounds at an auction in south Essex.

The world-famous band performed in the presence of Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon at London Pavilion on July 6, 1964, when a chef at the Dorchester obtained the fully-signed show ticket.

This ticket went under the hammer at Stacey's Auctioneers in Rayleigh where it sold for a whopping £6,500 after strong interest with worldwide internet bidding.

The huge sum exceeded the auctioneers' previous Beatles record of £5,000 which was for a signed photograph of the fab four given to the manager of Southend’s Odeon by the band during their sell out tour in 1963.

Auctioneer Rob Smee said: “When memorabilia of the Beatles comes to market with good provenance it always creates strong interest and this was no exception, with phone bids and worldwide internet bidding.”

The UK collector who bought the lot wishes to remain anonymous.
