Would-be sleuths are in for a treat as a whodunnit murder mystery train experience comes to a Norfolk heritage railway line.

Holmes under the Hammer will take guests aboard a heritage diesel steam engine for a Sherlock Holmes-inspired crime caper along the Mid-Norfolk Railway line.

The train will depart from Dereham Station at 6.30pm and involve two trips between the Dereham and Thuxton stations, before arriving back in Dereham at approximately 8.40pm.

Tickets for the Dreamstone Productions event will cost £47 per person and include a fish and chips supper from a local supplier to enjoy while solving the mystery.

While not compulsory, guests are encouraged to dress up to play the part in the mystery that will enter the world of renowned detective Sherlock Holmes as he travels to an auction house at Thuxton where the sale of an unusual antique pipe has caught his eye.

Describing the event, a spokeswoman for the Mid-Norfolk Railway said: "Sherlock is travelling to an auction house at Thuxton where the sale of an unusual antique pipe has caught his eye.

"However, other people are also on the train with the same destination in mind - and not altogether innocent intentions!

"How can Holmes tell the difference between friends and enemies? Will he uncover the secret of The Crown of Lillith? And will there be a dreadful murder on board? Join us to find out!"
