'Hero' Florida Boy, 12, Saves Drowning Man Using CPR He Learned from 'Stranger Things'

Austen MacMillan was with his behavioral therapist when the man went underwater in a pool

A 12-year-old Florida boy saved the life of his behavioral therapist thanks to a CPR lesson he learned on the Netflix hit Stranger Things.

When Jason Piquette went under the water in a backyard pool at Austen MacMillan’s home in Palm Beach County, the young boy thought his therapist was just trying to see how long he could hold his breath, he told ABC News.

“It was like six to five minutes he was under the water and I was like, 'That's way too long. He cannot do that,'” Austen told the outlet.

So the seventh grader leapt into action. In footage from a Ring camera, Austen pulled Piquette from the water and then rushed away to call for help.

He was able to get the attention of his dad, Andrew MacMillan, who then called 911, according to Fox affiliate WSVN.

“I heard him yelling in a frantic way that I’ve never seen him [do] ever before,” Andrew told the station. "I immediately dropped all my groceries and ran through the gate.”

With first responders on the way, Austen then rendered life-saving measures to his therapist.

Austen’s efforts worked — Piquette soon began gasping for air. "I think I passed out in about 30 seconds and I don't know why," he told the outlet.

But he added: “I’m just so, like, amazed at how strong he was and how wise he was in that moment. And I always want him to know that he is a hero."
