A storm in the Gulf of Mexico had a “high chance” of developing into a tropical cyclone in the region, forecasters said on Thursday, June 1.

Footage posted by the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) shows the storm developing on Thursday afternoon.

Regardless of the storm’s development, it could produce “heavy rainfall and gusty winds” over parts of Florida into the weekend, the National Hurricane Center said. Credit: CIRA via Storyful
