‘Hijack’ Becomes Second Apple TV+ Series To Land On Nielsen Streaming Charts; ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’ Soars To Top Of Film List

Move over, Ted Lasso. There’s a new Apple TV+ series making its way onto the Nielsen streaming charts.

With the release of its final episode, Hijack ranked No. 7 among Nielsen’s streaming originals list with 357M minutes viewed during the week of July 31 to August 6. This is only the second Apple Original to land on the streaming charts, following Ted Lasso, which can still claim to be the streamer’s only series to score a spot on the overall Top 10 list.

As expected, Suits continued its reign on the overall list with another 3.2B minutes viewed across Netflix and Peacock. If you lost count, that marks seven weeks atop the list and six with more than 3B viewing minutes. The series may have reached its peak viewership, but it appears there’s still many more weeks of Suits domination to come.

However, Peacock was actually pretty widely represented by a few other programs in the Top 10 this week as well. The Super Mario Brothers Movie racked up 717M in its first four days on the streamer, landing at No. 6 overall and No. 2 among movies. And, after its first full week on Peacock, Twisted Metal managed to crack the streaming originals list at No. 10 with 326M minutes viewed.

Curious about the No. 1 movie? That’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which landed on Disney+ midweek. It tallied 1.6B minutes viewed, making it No. 3 on the overall list as well. According to Nielsen, viewing was split almost evenly across the 2-17, 18-34, 35-49 and 50+ age groups, with about a quarter of the total audience coming from each.

Disney+ claimed one more spot on the overall list with Bluey. The Australian animated series is still hypnotizing toddlers everywhere, managing a fourth week with over 1B minutes viewed.

The fourth and final program to reach 1B minutes viewed this week was The Lincoln Lawyer. Following the release of the second half of Season 2, the procedural drew 1.7B minutes viewed, making it No. 2 on the overall list.
