Hilarious moment cricketer runs into chairs whilst playing video game

This is the hilarious moment a cricketer ran into fellow players whilst playing a video game.

The cricketer was engrossed in a virtual reality game and appears to have hit a decent shot.

After completing the shot, he appeared to momentarily forget it is a virtual reality video game and rushes for a single, running into fellow players and fans who are seated in the bar area.

Great Harwood Cricket shared the footage as players and supporters were taking a break during the heavy rain on Sunday.

Great Harwood CC posted: "Rained off today, but it wasn’t without highlights."

When the player goes crashing into the chairs, the players and spectators watching on break out in laughter at the gaffe.

The video has now been viewed more than 300,000 times on X, formerly Twitter.

It's not the first time that VR cricket has been so immersive a player has taken off to run between the wickets with funny consequences.

Last year, a video went viral on social media of Northampton Saints rugby union coach Sam Vesty playing VR cricket in the club's offices.

After playing a fine cover drive, he takes off for a single, and in similar fashion to the Great Harwood player goes crashing into desks, causing laughter among those watching on.

A similar VR clip of snooker great Ronnie O'Sullivan went viral a few years ago where, while playing virtual reality pool, the Rocket went to lean on the virtual table and ended up tumbling to the floor.

Great Harwood's game against Burnley ended as a no result due to the rain, with only 20 overs played, in which Burnley racked up 175 runs.

Both teams received a point apiece in the Lancashire League Twenty20 competition.

Burnley and Great Harwood sit first and second, respectively, in the Founders Table.
