Jetting off to the world-famous city of love won't cost you an arm and a leg despite popular belief.

LJLA connects our city to destinations right across Europe, with easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz, Aer Lingus and now Jet2 among the airlines flying to and from Liverpool. Each of them offers plenty of reasons to visit, with many options for a city break or longer trip.

For anyone lost in love hoping to get away with their partner or take in some world-class attractions, you'll be pleased to hear Paris, France, is also on LJLA's list of destinations.

And according to Time Out, Paris is also one of the top destinations for a city break in 2024. Coming in at number 11 on its list, it reports: "It's the most packed city in Europe, yet it somehow reconciles its unique historic vibe – you know, those stone buildings, iconic landmarks, and centuries-old boulevards – with a constant explosion of creativity in every direction. Fashion, music, food... you name it, this city of 110 nationalities keeps reinventing itself day in and day out, and all through the night."

Maybe best of all, the trip to Paris isn't as expensive as you think. Flying with easyJet, flights can be picked up for as little as £42 and return journeys barely break £130 depending on your preferred date and time. With accommodations surprisingly just as affordable, the only cost you need to worry about is enjoying yourself.

What are the best attractions in Paris?

Paris has some of the most iconic attractions in the world. No trip is complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower. With 1,665 steps and three viewing platforms, this landmark offers breathtaking views of the city with the option of a glass of champagne thanks to its on-site, very high-up bar. If you don't feel like scaling the heights, you can see it in the background of every photo you take whether you want to or not, with numerous platforms such as Place de Trocadero available for that Instagram-perfect shot.

One of the largest museums in the world, the Louvre Museum is a must-see. It boasts nearly 35,000 objects from prehistoric times to the 21st century - including the famous Mona Lisa portrait painted by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci.

Located on the Champs Elysées, the magnificent Arc de Triomphe pays tribute to those who fought for their country during the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. Although it's a daunting journey through its narrow staircase, the building boasts a fascinating history and a tiny museum of its own. Its top is another great option for a landscape photo as you'll be able to get the Eiffel Tower in all its glory.

Chateau de Versailles is draped in breathtaking beauty thanks to centuries of fascinating French history and architectural splendour. Every room is a journey through history with the pièce de résistance being the hall of mirrors.

What is the flight time from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Paris?

Regardless of whether you are flying to Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) or Beauvais Airport (BVA), the flight time from Liverpool to Paris is 1 hour and 30 minutes. The time zone for Paris is GMT +1.

You can fly directly from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Beauvais Airport via Ryanair. LJLA also offers direct flights to both Charles de Gaulle and Beauvais Airport with easyJet.

Is Paris good for tourists?

Paris is easily traversable thanks to its underground rail system. Though the city is split into 20 far-reaching districts, you're never more than 15 - 20 minutes away from your destination - with all of the key landmarks fitting neatly within an estimated eight-minute commute. Tourists can pick up daily and weekly passes that allow for unlimited travel. During my visit, I spent four days seeing every corner and back street of the city for a mere €26.80. An absolute must if you plan on spending longer than 48 hours in Paris.

If you're not a French speaker that's also not a problem as almost everyone you meet will boast English as their second language. That's not to say you shouldn't pick up or try a few words here and there but you won't ever find yourself lost in translation. Paris is an extremely accessible and tourist-friendly city.
