Historic regiment returns to Cogges Manor Farm for 50th year

The Marquess of Winchester's Regiment will be returning to the Cogges Manor Farm next month to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The soldiers will be based around the farm, steeped in 1,000 years of history, on August 4 to talk to visitors and demonstrate their weapons from 11am to 3pm.

Marquess of Winchester’s Regiment is considered a premier formation in English Civil War re-enactment.

In 1643, the King needed to raise funds and recruit soldiers for his army.

An officer and soldiers from the regiment were sent to West Oxfordshire to ask wealthy landowners to support the King's cause.

Admission is standard farm rates or free for season ticket holders.

Free parking is available at the Cogges Hill Road car park.
