‘Hocus Pocus,’ ‘The Addams Family’ and ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ Included on Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween Milestone Lineup

‘Tis the season for “chills and thrills” on Freeform.

The network has finalized its milestone 25th anniversary lineup for its 31 Nights of Halloween programming block for the month of October, running from the 1st to the 31st.

Seasonal favorites return like the cult classic Hocus Pocus, starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures and Tim Burton’s beloved The Nightmare Before Christmas courtesy of Touchstone Pictures. The latter title, from director Henry Selick, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

The Halloweentown franchise gets a chunk of the lineup with such features as the original 1998 TV movie, starring Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J. Brown, Joey Zimmerman, Emily Roeske and Judith Hoag, playing alongside Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High and Return to Halloweentown. Other major franchises on the lineup include The Twilight Saga, Monsters, Inc., The Addams Family, The Incredibles, Spider-Man, Hotel Transylvania and Twitches.

Long-running animated series like Family Guy and The Simpsons snagged a slot with the latter series running the special Treehouse of Horror episodes. On the heels of the release of the newest Haunted Mansion feature film, Freeform will air the original 2003 installment starring Eddie Murphy, Marsha Thomason and Jennifer Tilly. Also new this year will be Freeform premieres of Disney’s animated hits Encanto, Zombies and Zombies 2.

“Over the last 25 years, our viewers have grown up with ’31 Nights of Halloween’ as a time-honored tradition to watch Halloween favorites and connect with their loved ones during this special time of the season,” said Simran Sethi, EVP of programming and content strategy at ABC Entertainment and Freeform. “There’s something sentimental about these holiday classics that brings a real sense of comfort and nostalgia to people, and we look forward to celebrating this anniversary with another spirited lineup.”
