Holby City spoilers follow.

Holby City's Kian Madani will suffer a brutal attack at the hands of grieving teenager Phoenix in shocking scenes tonight (July 21).

Kian (Ramin Karimloo) fled Holby unexpectedly last month, after the surprise arrival of Bea's son Phoenix prompted painful memories to resurface.

Kian's girlfriend Bea passed away last year, when his ill-advised attempt to save her went drastically wrong.

After returning to the hospital in tonight's episode, Kian is keen to pick up where he left off with his colleagues but is thrown when Phoenix arrives wanting to speak to him.

Although Kian agrees, their conversation turns tense when Phoenix questions why Kian hasn't been returning any of his messages.

Following his difficult conversation with Phoenix, there is still one more person Kian needs to see: Jac. And unsurprisingly, she is in no mood for forgiveness.

Still furious with Kian for fleeing, and his unsupportive behaviour beforehand, Jac makes her feelings known. She also urges a conflicted Nicky not to be taken by him, either.

Hurt by her cold words, Kian contemplates leaving again and goes into self-destruct mode when Phoenix comes back to confront him.

With Phoenix desperate to know more about Bea's final moments, Kian deliberately winds the teenager up – with devastating consequences.

Unable to hold back his temper, a grief-stricken Phoenix brutally attacks Kian – playing right into the destructive doctor's hands.

Kian is left with horrifying injuries as a result of his beating, and it's down to Jac to save him. But will he be alright?

Holby City airs these scenes on Tuesday, July 21 at 8pm on BBC One.
