Coventry City's incredible comeback from 3-0 down against Manchester United captured not only the hearts of the cathedral city but also the nation.

Despite the defeat on penalties to Erik ten Haag's United side, it was the Sky Blues who everyone was rooting for in pubs and homes throughout the country.

They took the FA Cup semi-final to extra-time and penalties at Wembley Stadium and in doing so took the nation and their supporters on an incredible rollercoaster of a journey in a match that will be remembered for years to come.

The Sky Blues were outplayed for the first hour with goals from Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes seemingly sealing their fate. However, a stunning goal from Ellis Simms and a deflected shot from Callum O'Hare narrowed the gap before Haji Wright calmly slotted home a stoppage time penalty to level the match and force extra-time.

Victor Torp's potential late winner was heartbreakingly ruled out by VAR, leading to a tense penalty shootout which City unfortunately lost 4-2. Below we tale a look at what the Sky Blues faithful have been saying now the dust has settled.

Percy: Don't watch a lot of football but all i know is Coventry players certainly proved you don't have to be in a multi million pound team to put on a good show! Shame about result....hate penalties. Proud of City !

Sully1976: Sooo proud of all today, take this into next season, automatic promotion is ours

PSYB: I'm proud to be a Coventrian. Unbelievable game and a comeback that will be remembered for years. Hold your heads high and let's go next season. PUSB.

Coventry17: Absolutely gutted , VAR has ruined football how can that be offside he was level. So proud of the players and fans.

leruet : I was in France so watched the game on Bein Sport with French commentary (not a patch on Clive & Oggy) but as they knew none of the City players before the match, it was interesting to hear their comments. The players they rated highest were Milan and Sheaf of the starting 11 and Torp and Binks of the subs. In fact they asked the question why they did not start! Wright looked level to me for Torp's goal, and they had the VAR lines on the screen. Very proud of ALL the players and staff. PUSB

Riva: Incredible City performance,Tavares proved the lads on here who have been calling for him to be given a regular start are justified. The fact that McGuire and Fernandez were downcast in the after match interviews shows that they know how lucky they were. One final word from Roy Keane never one to hold back.He criticised Onana for time wasting and described Coventry as Class who showed their quality.

Nick Rowley: Absolutely gutted, penalties 2 years running, still so proud of every single one of them, what a game

AnnieLowe: Fantastic game - well done lads, you can hope your heads up high. City deserved to win today but it was not to be xxxx

MrD73: Awesome game. Awesome comeback. And so nearly won it but for VAR. Hold your heads up high to all at CCFC. You have made history by being in one of the most entertaining semi finals in FA cup history. So proud of you all. A great entertaining day out.

HackettBoy: So so proud of Coventry , next season will be ours , in Robins we trust , O’hare needs to sign that contract now ,

Harv EFC : I just hope at least half of the 36k that turned up today remember where the CBS Arena is next season as if they can sell it out each game they’ll be in the Premier League with this Manager , he’s the best in that league by a mile.
