Holiday park less than an hour from Bristol named among the best in the UK - beating Center Parcs and Butlins

The best holiday parks in the UK have been announced with one forest park not far from Bristol higher up than Center Parcs.

Forest Holidays, which has have a stunning site in the Forest of Dean, came second on Which? Travel's list of the best holiday parks in the UK, and it's easy to see why with four stars for customer service and quality of accommodation.

The prime location is in the heart of the forest, with the enchanted world of Puzzlewood just a short drive or bike ride away. And if you don't fancy the stress of bringing your own bike then there's plenty available to rent from Forest Holidays.

There's also plenty to do in the holiday park itself, with horse-riding, llama treks and archery all available to try, and if you'd rather relax on your staycation, there's a hot tub in every cabin, and spa treatments available.

Also nearby is the Silver Circle Gin Distillery, where you can enjoy some tastings and even make your own gin.

Guests who have stayed at the holiday park have left rave reviews on the Forest Holidays' website, with one writing: "Such a lovely setting. So peaceful but still plenty to do and see. Very comfortable cabin, fabulous hot tub and it feels like you are the only ones there."

Another said: "The lodge was beautiful and perfect for a large family get together. Spacious yet cosy. Peaceful but fun. We loved walking in the woods and making dens with the grandkids. I was celebrating my 60th birthday and this was so much better than the ‘surprise’ party they were thinking of."

While a third added: "The setting is was so peaceful and relaxing just what I needed. The cabin was clean tidy and had everything we needed. Kids loved the hot tub."

Announcing the results of their survey, Which? Travel deputy editor Naomi Leach said: “With so many holiday park options to choose from it isn’t always easy to know which will be the right fit for your family.

"Our latest survey shows it’s worth looking beyond the best-known names, with smaller and independent resorts offering excellent value for money, great customer service and plenty of entertainment."
