All the holiday resorts in Spain that have strict all-inclusive alcohol rules

People planning to travel to Spain for a holiday are being warned about strict all-inclusive alcohol rules in some resorts.

Olive Press reports an estimated 22% of British holidaymakers will head to Spain this summer, with travellers fond of the European nation's sunny climes, pretty beaches, and delicious cuisine. However a number of resorts have implemented stringent all-inclusive rules, which could result in hefty fines if broken.

The regulations limit how much alcohol those staying in all-inclusive resorts can consume, as local bosses clamp down on excessive drinking and disorderly behaviour, reports the Liverpool Echo. In 2020, the Balearic Islands' government introduced rules to limit the sale and availability of alcohol in some of their resorts.

The rules mean those staying at all-inclusive hotels can have a maximum of six alcoholic drinks per day, as part of the hotel package. This is broken down to a maximum of three alcoholic drinks with lunch, and another three with an evening meal, so no more poolside cocktails or beers.

The following Balearic resorts are bound by the rules:

Playa de Palma, Majorca
El Arenal, Majorca
Magaluf, Majorca
West End of San Antonio, Ibiza

As well as this, shops in these areas are banned from selling alcohol between 9.30pm and 8am. Bars are also not allowed to run drink promotions, such as happy hours or two-for-one offers. Anyone found breaking these rules could face a fine of up to €3,000.
