Holidaymakers taking phone out of Britain this summer warned over £175 bill
Brits holidaying abroad this summer have been warned they could face a whopping £175 phone bill for using their devices in the EU.
A survey by holiday provider On the Beach found that 87 per cent of respondents were concerned about racking up costly charges while roaming in Europe.
The warning comes after the UK left the EU, meaning mobile phone operators are now able to charge for data usage abroad.

On the Beach chief customer officer Zoe Harris said: "Some of the high mobile phone bills holidaymakers are returning to are more expensive than the holidays themselves, that's why we're taking a stand against mobile phone carriers."
To combat the issue, On the Beach is offering free mobile data to customers booking holidays for 2024, reports Birmingham Live.
Harris added: "For 2024 On the Beach holidays we're offering our holidaymakers free mobile data, meaning Brits can roam all they want and not get charged an arm and a leg for doings so."
The company's website highlights the potential costs of using a mobile phone abroad, citing examples of holidaymakers who have been hit with huge bills for video-calling and playing games. "We don't want you to end up like Steve or Brenda, (even if you're called Steve or Brenda), which is why we've teamed up with Hubby to bring you FREE mobile data for your jollies. That means it doesn't matter if you're at the beach, by the pool, at the bar...or anywhere else for that matter - you can stay online without worrying about those sneaky roaming charges! ".
"We've even sweetened the deal by making sure everyone can get online from one device - so you can hotspot from a hot spot (get it? ). Yep, that's FREE mobile data for the whole gang, without any extra hotspotting charges. We're too good to you lot."
