Yahoo News Hollyoaks’ Abe to humiliate Cleo and spark eating disorder fears

Hollyoaks’ Abe Fielding is set to humiliate Cleo McQueen in upcoming scenes, sparking fears that her eating disorder has returned.
The show is currently airing a domestic abuse storyline involving the characters, with Abe being both physically and emotionally abusive towards partner Cleo.
In scenes that will air next week, Cleo is awaiting news of a potential promotion, but Abe is scared that they might grow distant if she gets the job, even though Cleo assures him otherwise.

Later, Cleo finds out the good news that she is now a senior nurse, but when Abe finds out, he doesn’t congratulate her and gets aggressive when she changes their dinner plans for her celebrations.
After drinks at The Dog, Mercedes leads Cleo to a surprise party, and it’s awkward when Cleo, not knowing Abe organised the event, comments on his absence.
In sinister scenes, Abe gets Cleo drunk, convinces her to be sick, then takes a photo of her after she throws up and posts it online.

The next day, hungover Cleo is furious when she discovers what Abe has done, though he claims it was an accident.
When Misbah calls her, she rushes down to the hospital to explain, but realises she got the wrong end of the stick.
Taking Misbah’s advice, she surprises Abe at The Dog with a mortgage advisor, but she is horrified when Abe announces that she is having a bulimia relapse.

Abe watches as Cleo comforts ex Joel, and later devises a new workout routine for his partner, including an exercise class in the park.
Cleo is self-conscious when Abe makes a point to praise Theresa and Hannah, but Hannah sees through him and supports Cleo, with the pair connecting through their experiences with eating disorders.
But this new friendship isn’t set to last, at least not if Abe can help it. When he overhears that Hannah is a sex worker, he blackmails her to stay away from Cleo.

Later, Cleo seeks help, affected by Abe’s cruel mind games and fearing that her eating disorder might resurface.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
