Yahoo News Hollyoaks airs aftermath of Charlie Dean's suicide attempt

Hollyoaks has aired a potential breakthrough for Charlie Dean in powerful scenes. Earlier this week, Darren and Jack Osborne rushed to save a despondent Charlie as he was endangering his own life by walking into the ocean.
Tuesday's (September 5) first-look episode took place in the aftermath of Charlie being hospitalised, and his admission that he'd been trying to end his life when Darren pulled him out of the water.
Darren related to Charlie by explaining he'd had similar feelings in his own battle with depression and promised his son there would be a time when he felt better.
However, Charlie suddenly lost consciousness and there were fears he wouldn't make it. As the family gathered outside Charlie's hospital room, Darren confided in Tony Hutchinson that he feared Charlie might try to take his life once again.

Charlie did eventually wake up, but refused to tell the medical staff the truth when he was told he'd suffered from secondary drowning.
Charlie was later visited by younger brother Oscar and he started to realise what it would mean for his family if he'd taken his life. Oscar reminded Charlie he'd once told him that if he were to ever fall down, it was harder to get back up the longer he stayed down.
Charlie was overcome with emotion as Oscar asked him if he were to fall again, would his brother be there to help him back up?

Darren was watching through the glass and relayed what Oscar was telling Charlie: "You're my big brother, the only one I've got. You're supposed to look out for me. So, don't go because if you do, I'll be alone and scared. And who will play with me then? Who will pick me up if you go?"
"I'm not going anywhere. I promise," Charlie vowed.
When Darren entered the room, Charlie assured him he's ready to tell the doctors about "what really happened". Darren reached for Charlie's hand and reminded him how loved he is.
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
