Hollyoaks airs emotional James and Ste scenes in death story

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Friday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Monday.

Tonight's (February 9) Hollyoaks streaming episode saw Ste Hay confess to his husband James Nightingale that he is responsible for Ella Richardson's death.

The emotional scenes come after the tragic events of stunt week, which saw Ste accidentally kill the teen – after driving recklessly to get his daughter Leah to hospital. He has been wracked with guilt ever since.

Tonight's episode began with a panicked Ste setting James's car on fire, after he managed to secretly move it to somewhere quiet before the police could find it.

After successfully setting the car alight, Ste then turned to a bottle of vodka.

Meanwhile, James overheard his step-children arguing and discovered that Lucas has been expelled. He apologisesd to the pair for their father not being present recently, before Ste arrived home drunk.

Lucas stormed off, with Leah blaming herself for her dad's condition. After James sent Leah to find her brother and spend the night at Leela's, he was shocked to find his car keys in Ste's pocket.

James begged his husband to tell him the truth, before Ste tearfully admitted: "I paid a guy to get rid of the car. But then he found out what I'd done, so he made me get rid of it.

"So I got the car, and just burnt it out to get rid of everything. And I thought I had, but I haven't because it's locked in here forever, James," he continued, as he pointed to his head. "I can't cope."

"What did you do?" asked James, before Ste revealed: "I killed Ella. It was me driving. I did it."

Wanting to erase the horrific events of the past few weeks, Ste then begged his husband for drugs. "I just need something else. I just need to do it just this once," he said, with James replying: "This is not the answer!"

As a desperate Ste tried to leave the house, James locked him inside for his own safety. Can he get Ste the help he needs?
