Hollyoaks airs exit for regular character – but will they be back?

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Friday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Monday.

Hollyoaks has aired an exit for Felix Westwood, as actor Richard Blackwood takes a break from the E4 soap.

Felix has been at the centre of some dramatic storylines on the soap over the past few weeks, with the character discovering his fiancée Mercedes McQueen has been having an affair with his best mate Warren Fox and he has been wrongly suspected of killing Ella Richardson in a huge accident.

Warren's planned vengeance against his former friend for the death of his daughter came to a dramatic climax with last night's episode ending on a cliffhanger after a shot was fired during a scuffle in the woods between Warren and Felix.

In tonight's first-look episode (February 2) it was revealed that Warren received a gunshot wound to the shoulder as Felix made a hasty escape back to the village.

Once there, he made Mercedes and Norma aware that Warren was hurt.

However, as Mercedes helped Felix plan his escape at the garage, Warren showed up to confront the pair and ignored Mercedes' pleas for him to accept Ella's death as an accident.

Warren then pulled a gun during another heated exchange with Felix, intent on carrying out his revenge plan once again, but he collapsed from his injures before he could pull the trigger, allowing the pair to flee.

Later on, Mercedes helped secure Felix a car to leave in, with Felix suggesting they should leave together. However she rejected his proposal and admitted that she still loved Warren.

Defeated, Felix accepted Mercedes' decision but warned her not to underestimate Warren and his fixation on getting revenge. "From friend to another, keep your eye on Warren," he told her.

"Never turn your back on him because I promise you one day he'll turn on you."

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Warren woke from his injuries, promising Norma he'd make Mercedes "pay" for betraying him.

Despite Felix fleeing the village, its unlikely to be the last we see of the character as Blackwood takes time away to head out on a planned UK comedy tour – meaning that Felix will most likely be back in the village at some point to face the music.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
