Hollyoaks airs major change in John Paul and Carter's storyline

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Friday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Monday.

A major turning point was marked in tonight's (November 10) Hollyoaks streaming episode as Carter's past was finally revealed, amid his ongoing conversion therapy storyline with John Paul.

The special episode explored solidarity and the LGBTQ+ community, focusing on John-Paul's issue-based story which collided with the arcs of other characters in the village.

Carter's true intentions were revealed when a horrified John Paul realised that the headteacher has been trying to practise conversion therapy on him.

Shocked that Carter sees homosexuality as a sin, John Paul emotionally shared that sexuality isn't a choice.

"How can you possibly say that somebody's sexuality, who they choose to love, who they choose to sleep with, determines their life's path? It's crazy," he said tearfully.

Carter then shockingly revealed that he too was previously attracted to the same sex, before his father told him it was wrong and led him to "the path of righteousness". John Paul shared his intention to help Carter, before things heated up between the pair, resulting in an intimate moment shared.

In another powerful scene, Sally shared the history behind the solidarity flag, explaining its importance to her as a trans woman and the entire LGBTQ+ community.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
