Hollyoaks airs romantic twist for Joel Dexter and Cleo McQueen

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Tuesday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Wednesday.

Hollyoaks has aired a romantic twist for Joel Dexter and Cleo McQueen.

The on-off couple were reunited following the road crash, when Joel rescued Cleo from the wreckage and learned she'd come back to the village to win him back.

Cleo has since discovered that Joel has moved on with Leela Lomax, while her own sinister love interest Abe Fielding has followed her to the village intent on rekindling their brief romance.

In Tuesday's (February 13) first-look episode, Peri Lomax was worried that Joel was neglecting Leela and encouraged him to spend more time with her.

Joel did indeed meet up with Leela to discuss their future as parents, yet when she went to work, he chose to join Cleo for a quiz night at The Dog.

It didn't take long for Joel to convince Cleo to ditch the quiz and spend the night with him instead, as they walked through the park and looked back on some of the happier times from their past.

"There were times when I don't think I've ever been happier," Joel confessed.

Cleo continued to insist that they weren't destined to be together until Joel reminded her she'd said the exact opposite by his bedside at the hospital.

As the night wound down, Cleo admitted to Joel: "These past few years, I've not been here with you but you've been here with me every day, every hour, going round and round in my head like a song I can't forget."

"If I said the words, 'you're the one I wanted', you'd have me?" Joel asked, with Cleo telling him: "In a heartbeat. I belong to you, Joel. Like I was made for you. I'm yours, always have been, always will be."

Joel will have some thinking to do in upcoming episodes, as he turns to Norma Crow for some advice on whether he should give Cleo another chance or stick things out with Leela.

Meanwhile, Cleo will continue to have unexpected encounters with the intimidating Abe in the village as viewers discover he may have some controlling tendencies.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
