Hollyoaks star Billy Price has provided some further details about his character Sid Sumner's terrible injury, as he suffers life-changing consequences as a result of taking ketamine.

Hollyoaks has confirmed that the ongoing County Lines storyline, which has drawn in many of the Channel 4 soap's teenage characters, will feature a sad twist for Sid as, feeling alone and scared, he takes a dangerous amount of ketamine and seriously hurts himself while unaware of his surroundings.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Billy revealed that Sid's mistake comes about after he suffers the week from hell and feels "betrayed" by everybody.

"Everything just builds and builds as the week progresses, and Sid ends up going down a dark path," he explained, adding that Sid "just doesn't care any more".

Things go downhill quickly for Sid when Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw) accidentally lets slip that it was Sid who grassed up his cousin Jordan Price (Connor Calland) to the police as a drug dealer, leaving Sid "terrified" and "scared for his life" as he begs Jordan not to tell his boss Victor Brothers (Benjamin O'Mahony) about what he's done.

As if the showdown with Jordan wasn't enough, Sid also discovers that Juliet has shared a passionate moment with Ollie Morgan (Gabriel Clark), leaving him feeling completely betrayed.

"Juliet is Sid's best friend, and he was there for her when she told him she was gay," he said. "So when Sid finds out that she's been with another guy, it seems as if he's not good enough. It hits him hard, and that's when he's ready to just give up on everything."

This is the moment when Sid decides to sample the ketamine that he has been selling, causing him to collapse. And Billy has revealed that the injury Sid sustains as a result is "one of the most horrible things for such a young boy to go through".

"He ends up losing his mobility, and he can't get around that easily," he said. "Sid was worried about what people thought of him before – however, after this, he feels as though all eyes are on him. All of a sudden people start judging him, and he begins to feel like an outsider."

How will Sid handle this latest sad setback?

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
