In a surprising turn of events, another resident of Hollyoaks is set to leave Chester.

In the emotional episode aired on Wednesday (July 3), available for streaming on Channel 4, Scott Drinkwell, portrayed by Ross Adams, revealed his plans to relocate to Spain.

Adams, who has played Scott for nine years, has been sharing updates about his departure from the soap opera on social media over the past few months and recently informed fans that he had filmed his final scenes.

Viewers are left speculating about Scott's dramatic exit, which has been confirmed to involve starting a new life abroad with Sinead O'Connor, played by Stephanie Davis, and making his drag act Anita Tinkle his full-time job.

Vicky Grant, played by Anya Lawrence, encouraged Scott to pursue his dream, leading him to decide to leave Hollyoaks after nearly a decade.

However, in an unexpected twist, Freya Calder, played by Ellie Henry, asked Scott if she could join him in moving away following the death of her mother and her father's imprisonment.

Since arriving in the village, Freya has experienced significant heartbreak, including being injured in a bus crash, losing her mother Lexi, played by Natalie Anderson, to serial killer Silas Blissett, played by Jeff Rawle, and discovering that her homophobic father Carter Shepherd, played by David Ames, was conducting conversion therapy on Lucas Hay, played by Oscar Curtis, whom he tried to kidnap.

Freya and Scott's departure follows Zain Rizwaan's (played by Jonas Khan) exit from the village, with Hollyoaks fans set to say goodbye to several more characters in the upcoming weeks, reports the Mirror.

Stephanie Waring, who has portrayed Cindy Cunningham intermittently for 28 years, confirmed via social media that her iconic character is among those being cut due to casting reductions.

Warren Fox, played by Jamie Lomas, is also slated for a future write-out, and reports suggest that Beau Ramsey (Jon-Paul Bell) is also on his way out.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights on E4 at 7pm and first look episodes can be streamed Channel 4 at 7.30pm
