Hollyoaks has officially confirmed the return of Claire Cooper as Jacqui McQueen.

Cooper was last seen as Jacqui in 2013, but the soap confirmed to Digital Spy that she will be making a comeback after ten years away.

"We can confirm that Hollyoaks royalty, Jacqui McQueen, played by Claire Cooper, will be putting in her hoop earrings for a one-episode return," Hollyoaks said.

Jacqui's return can be previewed in the soap's latest trailer, which also shows a huge twist in Sienna and Rafe's story.

Jacqui's appearance is part of the winter season of the show, with the character being involved in her sister Mercedes' storyline.

Mercedes, who was recently shocked to discover that she was pregnant, begins to panic as her wedding day approaches and she remains conflicted over whether she wants to be with Felix or Warren.

Turning to prayer for answers, Mercedes ends up running into Jacqui.

This will be one of several huge storylines for the soap, with another upcoming plot revolving around Haiesha Mistry's Yazz Cunningham, who receives a message from a stranger.

"She gets a message from this fan of the true-crime podcast she does with Jack and it really excites her,” Haiesha explained. “He sucks up to Yazz and tells her she’s the best podcaster in the world."

"She’s flattered and it gives her a real confidence boost. She hasn’t had that kind of attention for a while so she messages him back. It’s risky, and is definitely the start of something big."

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
