Hollyoaks – Goldie and Myra exits explains
Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Wednesday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Thursday.
Hollyoaks fans waved goodbye to Myra and Goldie McQueen in tonight's streaming episode (January 24). The pair were forced to flee the village after the money that Myra had been secretly stashing away went missing.
But have they gone for good, or will we be seeing them again? Here's everything you need to know.
Goldie and Myra's exit story explained – why did they leave?
Hollyoaks delighted fans last week, when Myra, Cleo and Theresa all returned to the village amid the dramatic car crash.
The nostalgic McQueen reunion was a treat for long-term viewers of the show, but sadly, it wasn't to last.
This week's episodes has seen Myra's happiness jeopardised when she discovered that the money she had been hiding had vanished.
Hannah Ashworth had fled with the money in the episode prior, following a deal she struck up with a devious Carter Shepherd.
Myra had explained to Goldie that she was hiding the money for Jacqui, who had got herself in a spot of bother abroad.
Myra and Goldie were horrified when they realised the cash had gone missing, and were forced to frantically think on their feet – or risk further trouble from the men who were chasing Jacqui.
Panicked, Goldie and Myra tried to think up a way to keep the family, and themselves, out of trouble.
They eventually decided to use Goldie's world cruise tickets that she'd recently won to go on the run long enough for all the drama to calm down.
However, Goldie was left with a dilemma when her son Prince decided to take up her previous offer of the second ticket, desperate to get away from the village for if and when Romeo returned from prison.
Goldie eventually made the difficult decision to pursue the trip with Myra after all, and the pair said an emotional goodbye to their family in the village.
Goldie explained to Prince that they were in trouble and she needed to get away, but promised him she'd be back eventually.
Will Goldie and Myra be back?
Fans will be pleased to know that Goldie's exit is only to be temporary to accommodate Chelsee Healey's maternity leave, and we can confirm that she will definitely be back.
Chelsee – who plays Goldie – announced the birth of their second child back in December, naming her Cookie Al Rainford.
Myra, on the other hand, has left more permanently. For now, at least.
Nicole Barber-Lane reprised the role in the show's hour-long stunt episode last week, alongside Nadine Mulkerrin (Cleo) and Jorgie Porter (Theresa).
Although viewers knew that Jorgie would be returning as Theresa, no official announcement had been made over Myra and Cleo being back.
Digital Spy confirmed at the time that Hollyoaks' executive producers Hannah Cheers and Angelo Abela had invited Nicole back late last year, but that Myra's reappearance was only for a guest stint.
Nicole told us: "I'm very honoured to come back in the stunt episode and I can't wait to see how it all pans out. I'm pleased that it was kept secret for the audience to see in the episode.
"As for whether I'll be back again, the honest answer is I don't know. Let's see what the fans' reaction is. If it's not as great as we hoped for, then no!
"I think it depends on scheduling. I've got other commitments and I'm not sure what's happening with that yet, so I can't commit to anything really.
"I always say, 'never say never'. I honestly didn't think I'd be coming back, so who knows what the cards hold?"
Explaining why she agreed to return in the first place, Nicole explained: "When I heard that Hannah was taking the reins, I was really happy for the show. She's good at characters, she's good at stories, she loves the show and she understands it.
"First of all, it was Nadine [Mulkerrin, who plays Cleo] who asked me if I wanted to meet up for a coffee – we hadn't spoken for a year so I wondered what it was all about!
"Nadine asked me what I thought about returning and at first I said no. I said: 'I'm too busy, I'm doing other stuff, and I think that time has gone now'.
"I thought I couldn't do it because it's so full-on and it's too much. But then I spoke to Hannah and my agent was involved too, so we were all talking."
Nicole continued: "I was asked what kind of world I'd like Myra to come back to. I said that I knew Jorgie Porter was coming back and if we could get Claire Cooper back, it'd be a really big thing to have Jacqui and Myra back in the show. I knew Claire was doing a lot of other stuff, but I knew that'd be brilliant."
