Hollyoaks newcomer announces she's dying just days after debut

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Monday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Tuesday.

Hollyoaks newcomer Martha informed her apparent distant relatives that she's been diagnosed with terminal cancer in the latest episode.

Having initially hidden her supposed identity from the Blake family, Martha was confronted by 'granddaughter' Sienna about her secretive nature.

Rolling her eyes while a little flustered, she said: "It's high time I told you everything..."

Martha proceeded to tell Sienna and Liberty Savage that she'd received a letter from Dilly Harcourt last year, but didn't think anything of it at the time because she "had a lot going on".

"I heard from my doctor that I had terminal cancer," she revealed. "It's fine, I've had time to get used to it but a few weeks ago while sorting out my affairs I found my letter again.

"It's very hard going through this on your own and I haven't got any immediate family left and well, I felt sorry for myself."

Sienna questioned why she'd kept her relationship to them under wraps, which saw Martha admit to being "scared" they wouldn't want to know her.

Sucked in by the upsetting news of Martha's situation, Dilly promised her she'd be a welcome addition to the family unit during her final years.

Later on, Sienna blasted Dilly for buying her story. "There is something so off about her, how can you not see it?" she said, with Liberty concurring.

Just before the credits played, Martha called up a mystery person while holding a DNA document declaring Sienna as a non-relation...

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
