Hollyoaks teases James and Ste being caught out in death story

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Tuesday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Wednesday.

Hollyoaks has hinted at James Nightingale and Ste Hay getting caught over Ella Richardson's death.

Ste has been desperately trying to hide that he accidentally ran down Ella while trying to get his daughter Leah to the hospital earlier this year.

While Ste thought he'd managed to cover up the crime with help from Kane, the drug dealer has now turned against Ste due to James planting evidence to implicate him.

Tuesday's (February 13) first-look episode saw DS Zoe Anderson frighten Ste by asking him to come to the precinct for some questioning since Kane alleges he's the one who killed Ella.

As Ste panicked over having to face the police, a shaken James promised that he'd go as far as necessary to shut Kane down. James immediately turned to the dark side to protect his husband, as he visited Kane in jail to make an ominous threat.

The lawyer warned Kane he was willing to go outside the bounds of the law, and revealed he'd already found out where the dealer's daughter goes to school.

"You'll plead guilty to the hit-and-run… or hell will be a walk in the park compared to what I'll put you and yours through," James vowed.

He later reported back to Ste that Kane took his threats seriously, especially since he had no idea James had any connection to Ste. James predicted that as long as they can keep their connection secret from Kane, they should be able to deflect suspicion over Ella's death.

However, James's threat almost immediately backfired when crafty Kane offered to bribe one of the prison guards to help him.

"I want you to find out everything you can about [James] and his family," Kane demanded.

Will Kane discover James and Ste's connection?
