Hollywood Squares Reboot, Starring Drew Barrymore, Ordered at CBS
Drew Barrymore is adding another title to her growing resume: center square. The actress-turned-daytime TV host has been tapped to lead a “new edition” of Hollywood Squares on CBS, TVLine has learned.
Though an exact premiere date has yet to be announced, we do know that this hour-long version of Hollywood Squares will air on Wednesdays at 10/9c beginning sometime in January. The classic game show will be preceded by a special primetime edition of The Price is Right at 8 pm, followed by Raid the Cage — co-hosted by Damon Wayans Jr. and Jeannie Mai — at 9 pm.

For the uninitiated, Hollywood Squares is a game show in which two contestants play tic-tac-toe to win cash and prizes. The twist? Each square on their board is occupied by a different celebrity, who is asked a question by the player, who must then decide whether the celebrity’s answer is correct.
Hollywood Squares originally aired from 1966 to 1980 on NBC, where it was hosted by Peter Marshall, with actor Paul Lynde regularly occupying the coveted center square. The show has been rebooted twice in syndication, hosted by John Davidson (1986–1989) and by Tom Bergeron (1998–2004).
CBS’ new version of Hollywood Squares is produced by Jesse Collins for Jesse Collins Entertainment and Barrymore for Flower Films.
