Home and Away shares full details of Ziggy and Dean's exit story

Home and Away spoilers follow.

Home and Away have shared the full details of Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson's upcoming exit story.

According to Australian outlet TV Week, the scenes, which are set to air in Australia this week before hitting UK screens in April, will see the new parents swapping Summer Bay for Queensland.

The move comes after Dean's former girlfriend Amber reveals that she's moving away with their young son Jai.

Concerned about being away from his son Dean broaches the prospect of moving to Ziggy, who is happy for them to start a new chapter together.

The pair's departure follows real-life couple Sophie Dillman and Patrick O'Connor's decision to quit the soap earlier this year.

"Dean and Ziggy are looking towards a new and exciting future," Sophie told the outlet.

"We were stoked to be able to create a family and have a happy ending – it doesn't always happen for a lot of people in Home and Away."

Sophie and Patrick joined the show in 2017 and 2018 respectively, with their on-screen relationship leading to them becoming a couple in real-life.

Revealing their reasons for leaving Home and Away last month, the duo told Australia's TV Week it was time for a new challenge.

"It's a huge commitment and a massive chunk of my life. I felt I changed into six different people in the time we were there. There's a lot of growth both as an actor and a person. It's a great place to work, but I was ready [to move on]," Patrick said.

Sophie added: "We have both done everything possible with our characters and it was time to start a new chapter."

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.

Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
