Home and Away actor Orpheus Pledger has been arrested following a three-day manhunt.

The Australian allegedly assaulted a woman before going on the run from police custody.

Victoria Police said he had been found on Thursday night.

He was first arrested on March 25 and put into pre-trial detention for the alleged attack.

However a judge ruled he could attend a hospital appointment to address mental health issues.

Despite being under police guard he fled the hospital, triggering a manhunt.

His victim suffered severe injuries including a haematoma on her head, cuts to her cheek and bruises, a court had heard.

Part of the alleged assault was caught on CCTV.

Footage released by Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday appears to show him dragging a woman to the ground by her hair before stamping on her head.

Pledger is accused of carrying out the violent attack in the early hours of March 25.

Magistrate Justin Foster said after Morgan’s escape he would not grant a similar order again after he "bent over backwards to try and offer someone mental health treatment as they require".

He played Mason Morgan on Home and Away for between 2016 and 2019 in a total of 339 episodes.

Pledger became famous as a child actor when at aged just eight he appeared in the children’s series Silversun.

He later joined the cast of Neighbours as Noah Parkin in 2011 and then joined the cast of Home and Away.

The actor decided to leave the role in 2019 and was killed off in the season finale in November.
