Home and Away’s Irene Roberts will open up about her feelings of loneliness in new scenes on the soap.

Irene has gotten close with John Palmer in recent weeks following the explosion, which has seen him stay with Irene.

After rumours of a relationship between the pair began to circulate around Summer Bay, thanks in large part to Irene egging them on, John will put an end to the talk after seeing how it affected his ex-wife Marilyn.

John initially finds the familiarity of his own bed comforting, but is racked with guilt as Irene confesses that she found herself lonely in his absence, with his feelings worsening as she reveals she had planned dinners for the pair throughout the week.

With stern words from Alf and Marilyn, John resolves to inform Irene that he will soon be moving out and back to his house, with the latter showing understanding amidst the disappointment.

As Irene returns to work, she finds herself distracted, with Kirby’s sudden resignation compounding the sadness she harbours from John’s absence.
