The announcement that a rail company will not stop at Wembley Stadium during two nights of Taylor Swift's highly-anticipated Eras Tour has caused anger amongst concertgoers. Chiltern Railways, which serves areas including Banbury, Bicester, Aylesbury and High Wycombe, has apologised for the lack of services.

On its Facebook page, the company posted: "We’re sorry we will not be stopping at Wembley Stadium for the Taylor Swift concerts on 22 & 23 June. We're carrying additional customers due to Network Rail engineering works between Birmingham & London Euston so sadly can't also support the concerts."

This will mean that those hoping to travel back to any of the areas serviced by Chiltern Railways will need to catch the Tube to London Marylebone instead of boarding their train directly at the stadium. Those doing this can board the Metropolitan line from Wembley Park station, and either change at Baker Street to the Bakerloo line, or walk from Baker Street to Marylebone before catching the train to their destination.

Unsurprisingly, concertgoers who were unaware of the engineering works were unhappy with the situation. On Chiltern Railways' announcement on Facebook, hundreds of unhappy Swifties voiced their anger.

Gemma Collinson wrote: "So for a football match you will stop there. For a concert with mainly women going to it... you don’t. Brilliant!" Whilst Stuart Chapman agreed: "There should be additional services for an event like this - not less."

Lee Cotton said: "This is shocking, was the same for the Summertime Ball last weekend. Huge events at the stadium and one of the main transport hubs is shut." Helen Jane agreed, writing: "Absolutely disgusting… lots of young women going who will need to get home safely."

Not everyone was upset, Luke Briars wrote: "To people complaining, it isn't their fault Taylor's decided that she wanted to host during engineering works that have been planned for ages. If you can afford a ticket to the concert then you can afford a hotel."

Craig Wiseman simply wrote: "Come on guys, just shake it off."

A Chiltern Railways spokesperson explained: "Unfortunately, it's not possible for services to call at Wembley Stadium as well as providing the additional capacity needed between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street. We're sorry for the inconvenience this will cause."
