A homeless cat who was found "matted from head to toe" after living on the streets has now found his forever home.

Troy, seven, was kicked out by his previous owners and was living rough before being taken in by the Worthing Cat Welfare Trust.

The charity said he was in an "awful state" when he was found, with most of his matted hair having to be shaved off in a "lion cut" so it could regrow.

There was an appeal for adopters and Troy was taken in by a new family.

A spokesman for the Worthing Cat Welfare Trust said: "We are really pleased to say that he's settled incredibly well in his new home and I think the pictures say it all.

"He is so contented and happy, he enjoys access to the great outdoors and his new owners love him."

At his new home, photos show Troy, whose hair is regrowing, basking in the sunshine in his new garden.

The charity, which aims to rehome felines in need across the area, continues to look for homes for other cats.
