Martin Roberts is gearing up to strut his stuff on Strictly Come Dancing. The beloved Homes Under The Hammer presenter, 60, is said to be in the final stages of discussions with the show's producers about showcasing his moves in the forthcoming season.

An insider revealed to The Daily Star newspaper: "Martin is just waiting to sign his contract. It'll be a dream come true for him - and a delight for viewers." Roberts himself dropped a hint while at the recent TRIC awards.

Chatting with the newspaper he quipped: "I'm like a Ninja Mutant Hero Turtle - I just eat pizzas. Domino's Mighty Meat. I'm the stomach of Domino's, not the face of it." He continued, expressing concerns about his diet: "I should worry about what I eat because I had a health scare. I need to look after myself better. And certainly if I get this TV show later in the year. I'll have to get super fit." Try WalesOnline Premium for FREE by clicking here for no ads, fun puzzles and brilliant new features.

In related news, two CBBC personalities are also vying for a spot on Strictly. Shini Muthukrishnan, the 22-year-old Blue Peter host, is reportedly competing against 32-year-old CBBC presenter Evie Pickerill for a chance to join the BBC dance extravaganza, with Shini tipped as the favourite.

A source confided to The Mail On Sunday newspaper: "There can really only be one from the world of CBBC so there is now a full-on battle, a war. Securing a place on 'Strictly' is considered the ultimate prize for those in children's television, as it offers a path out of that niche and into mainstream fame. It's known that several agents have been lobbying 'Strictly's casting director, but Shini seems to have edged ahead."

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the autumn. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.
