Hope Haven launches new child placing agency aiding foster children in East Texas

TYLER, Texas (KETK) — An East Texas ministry will open a new child placing agency in Tyler.

The Hope Haven of East Texas, a ministry caring for children in foster care since, will open Rekindle, a new child placing agency. Led by Anna Thomas and Whitney Browning, the new agency will specialize in licensing foster families as treatment homes to care for children that have experienced trauma.

According to Hope Haven, there are about 1,500 children and teenagers in foster care in East Texas with placement options for 15% of those in the region. Rekindle aims at training and supporting families to care for foster children, who many have experienced abuse or neglect.

“At Rekindle we are passionate about caring for our children right here in East Texas,” Anna Thomas said. “Our goal is to provide a loving home for any child that needs one. We are excited to start this journey.”

People interested in becoming a foster family are invited to join Hope Haven and 4Kids4Families at an information meeting set for April 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. People can visit www.hhofet.org to sign up for the event.
