A "horribly crippled" three-legged dog is looking for his forever home in Norfolk.

Cassidy had his rear leg amputated after he was found as an abandoned stray, limping and dragging his limb around a Romanian rubbish dump.

A team from Safe Rescue for Dogs, a shelter based in Wymondham, found Cassidy outside the Botoșani dog shelter in March and "couldn't leave him behind".

Zoe Casey, a team member from Safe Rescue for Dogs, said: "He was limping very badly when they found him, his leg was hanging, swinging from his body.

“He was trying to lift it but he was obviously in pain."

Cassidy was moved to a private shelter for his leg to be amputated so he could safely travel to the UK.

"It was an old injury and a vet said his leg wasn't saveable", Ms Casey said.

"The shelter is pretty horrific - it's noisy, fights break out all the time, they’re overcrowded and new dogs get chucked in with packs.

"Romanian dogs are usually quite badly abused but he likes human company and still trusts humans.

"He's a cheeky little chappy, sweet-natured, very cute and quite wiggly.

“His leg has healed nicely and he's just waiting for his new family to find him."

Cassidy is timid and submissive with new people but mixes well with other dogs and can live with children aged 10 plus.
